El Jaguar Private Preserve’s Bromeliads

The bromeliads in El Jaguar Preserve belong to a typical cloud forest ecosystem. The altitude in El Jaguar varies between 1280 and 1360 meters above see level (4199 and 4461 feet). The cloud forest has a humid subtropical climate plentiful of moisture throughout the year, most of it derived from low clouds or fogs which envelop the forest. The annual rainfall is 2050 mm, and the temperature varies from 46°F to 90°F (8°C to 32°C).
The actual inventory list of 12 bromeliads species has been elaborated by the biology student and researcher: César Largaespada, between the 4th and 5th of July 2004.

The research continues and will be updated as long as new species are identified.
